Speaking at a recent staff reception managing director Eamon Fenlon congratulated the 12 Islanders who had each worked at the company for more than 15 years.

They ranged from Antonio Martins, who has clocked up 15 years with the company, to Terina Lennie, an administrator, who has worked there for 36 years.

Mr Fenlon said: 'People are and always will be our greatest asset, and their contributions have been part of Jersey Dairy's success. I hope that they take pride in knowing that they have been, and continue to be, important members of our team'.

Allan Houchen joined the dairy in April 1985 as a seasonal worker but stayed on as a milk man and delivery driver. Now, two years short of retiring, he is a salesman.

'I enjoy my job because I am out and about everyday and I have a good rapport with our customers in supermarkets, small shops and farm shops,' he said.

As these were the first such awards, staff who had previously passed 15 and 25 years of service were also honored. Each one received a cash voucher for £150 for 15 years service and £250 for 25 years, and a framed certificate acknowledging their length of service.
